White Pepper

Am I the sole remaining fan of this delicious condiment?

I like it so much, I sprinkle it liberally.

And I prefer it to black pepper. It lingers tantalisingly on the palate and has a certain freshness of flavour that I find lacking in it's darker cousin.

Like you, our tribe of young ones love the white pepper....they think black is evil.

I like black pepper better generally, but there are somethings where only white will do - beurre blanc; onion soup and fish.
BTW I really like bubble and squeak, but it's not in fashion at the moment. Part of that's a good thing - it means no-one has scads of left over boiled cabbage they need to use up!

Well done Nellie, I have been a white pepper fan forever(seems like it).
I also love black, but Lady Fair is a black pepper fanatic.

Sir Grumpy but Fair.

I don't mind the white pepper. However, I find that it tastes like what cows smell like if that makes any sense...

On our recent trip to Sarawak in Borneo, Bj and I stayed at a long house village that produces pepper. The region is renowned for its spicy, black bush pepper as well as it's more sophisticated and cultivated white cousin. We did bring home quantities of both, but have since given all the white pepper away. Had I known how fond you were of it, I would have saved you a packet. I can still offer you some of the spicy, black variety if you would like a sample.....

Native Pepper is better than them both, and that's speaking as a true pepper addict in both forms. Excuse me while I go hungrily eye off my Native Pepper Trees to see whether they've grown me any deliciousness yet...

I got some of that native pepper berry at Fleurty's one day.

Chucked it. Weird. Black and white pepper is much better.

Sir Grumpy.

PS just finished a big bowl of pea and ham soup with a thumping long sprinkle of white pepper. Great!
